Eye serums and creams are some of the most controversial products in the beauty industry. Either you're completely obsessed with them, or you think they're snake oil packaged in a fancy glass bottle. No matter which camp you fall into, I think the general consensus is that many eye creams tend to be significantly overpriced. (I shamelessly love La Mer's eye concentrate, but at £185 for a 15ml jar... it's too much!)
This is where beauty disruptor The Ordinary comes into play. You already know his products (and let's face it, you love them) because they're so affordable, effective, and transparent about their ingredients and costs. The brand's just-launched Peptide Eye Serum is no exception; part of a line of peptide-rich hair, skin, and lash products, The Ordinary's new eye serum is a hydrating powerhouse for the peep zone. As fans of the series know, peptides are a proven ingredient that help hydrate, plump, and build protein. The Ordinary's Peptide Eye Serum has impressive clinical results to back up these claims: In a 4-week study, participants saw a 20% reduction in the appearance of eye bags (50% reduction after 8 weeks) , dark circles are reduced by 28% within 4 weeks (53% reduced after 8 weeks). The new peptide eye serum is designed to provide longer-lasting hydration to the skin around the eyes compared to the existing 5% Caffeine + EGCG Eye Serum, which is designed to wake up the eye area and reduce puffiness. and moisturizing to enhance the line blurring effect. While it's technically considered a serum due to its thin consistency, it can be used as the last step in your routine, in place of a thicker eye cream, rather than as a skincare step before lotion
Before the product was officially released, four Refinery29 editors had the chance to test it for months to determine if it was the real deal.
"I'm very loyal to the eye creams I've been using for years. I have sensitive skin, especially around my eyes, so I tend to stick with products that work to avoid the risk of irritation from new products. But I've heard The Ordinary says overall Say it's great - my best friend loves the Peptide Lash and Brow Serum - and while I was hesitant, I was equally excited to try the Peptide Eye Serum. At first glance, I was pleased that this was a product that could be used day or night product used, and there is no noticeable smell. I have never used an eye product that has more liquid serum than eye cream, but I'm used to it! It's lightweight and absorbs well into the skin. So far, I haven't Any irritation (which is a relief!), and my eye area feels dewy, which is especially challenging in the winter. I'm looking forward to keeping this product in my skincare routine and hope it eventually replaces My higher quality eye cream - my wallet will thank me!"

"I have hereditary eye bags under my eyes that never really go away, so I just try to keep those areas moisturized with a nighttime eye cream — which has caused some skin and eye irritation in the past because I'm sensitive to prescription retinol ." However, The Ordinary serum hasn't had any effect on my skin over the past few weeks. It has a silky, thin texture and unlike thicker creams, it glides smoothly over my eye area. Even though my face was freshly peeling, there was no burning, swelling or inflammation. While my appearance hasn't changed dramatically (again, due to genetics), I've noticed that my concealer blends into my eye area more seamlessly than before and there are less wrinkles throughout the day. I think it's a great product to have in your skincare arsenal because it's long-lasting, gentle, and affordable. I also like that it's gentle and can be used morning and night without harming the skin. "
"Even though I'm a night owl and my normal bedtime is around 3 and 4 a.m., my dark circles rarely appear. When I miss my daily nap, the raccoon eyes usually appear. As you can imagine , back to back.” - When I’m away on vacation and rushing to work, I unfortunately miss countless naps and yes, dark circles have come to say hello. Luckily, just before they checked in, I was introduced to Ordinary’s Eye Serum. This is my first time hearing about eye serums as I usually use eye creams and I can say that I am a fan of eye serums. I appreciate how gentle it is, especially since the skin around my eyes is very sensitive, and it doesn't have that sticky feeling. I truly believe that just by patting the serum on, it absorbs into my skin effectively. After two weeks of use, the dark circles started disappearing and I was happy when they packed up and flew away. Only time will tell, but for now this eye serum has a permanent place in my morning and night skincare routine. "
“I’ve raved about The Ordinary’s Niacinamide Zinc Serum on this site more times than I can count, so I had high hopes for the brand’s new eye serum. Since I have oily skin, All my skincare products are on the lighter side." I really fell in love with this stuff at first sight - I would compare the texture to that of my favorite serums, which means it's thicker than water, but not nearly as thick. Thicker eye creams tend to make my milia flare up (not to mention). , concealer glides on immediately), so the fact that this eye serum disappears right into my skin is amazing. After cleansing in the morning and evening, gently pat under eyes and apply the remainder on your fingertips to eyelids. (FYI: Some products are only for use under the eyes, so be sure to ask your ophthalmologist or dermatologist if you're unsure!) I don't have any dark circles under my eyes (I attribute that to genetics and about ten hours) busy). I sleep with it every night) and since I'm still in my twenties, I don't have any wrinkles or crow's feet. I don't expect this eye serum to reverse these conditions (in fact, it's impossible to achieve that with the product alone), but since my main focus is hydrating and strengthening the delicate skin around my eyes, I'd say this A product that packs a strong punch 11/10 stays in this department.
